COVEY ANGELS

Additional Needs Gaining Experience in Life Skills

COVEY ANGELS logo
Our ANGELS groups provide facilitated social opportunities for young people with additional needs such as autism, Down's Syndrome, or global developmental delay.

COVEY has plans to provide these services in North Lanarkshire in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council Social Work.

Activities and outings are designed around the needs and goals of each young person. We provide a safe supportive space for ANGELS attendees to express themselves, spend time with other young people and gain the skills needed in later life.

Most importantly they'll have a lot of fun!

Young volunteers from local schools are recruited and trained to help in our ANGELS groups.

The young people then have the opportunity to spend time with others close to their age, with whom they can develop meaningful relationships. Spending time with other young people can prove vital to their development and we see ANGELS young people gaining confidence, communicating more and expressing themselves freely.

If you would like to volunteer at ANGELS you can find more about what's involved on our volunteering roles page.

Referral Criteria

Referrals for ANGELS can come from Social Work, education or health, for a young person, living in South Lanarkshire between 8-17 years old with an additional need.

The first step is a phone call to our office so that we can discuss the young person's needs and how we can best help.

Our telephone number is 01698 894013, or see our contact page for other details of how to get in touch.

"ANGELS supported Paul at his time of transition from school to college and work. He wouldn't leave home without us. COVEY gave him the confidence to be around others. Now he attends college and works."
