StructureTHE BOARD
The Board of Directors are a group of volunteers, some of whom are befrienders and others who bring their experience from other fields such as personnel and business. They are responsible for the governance of COVEY and are legally accountable for the work of the organisation. The Board meet every six weeks to ensure that the COVEY aims and objectives are met. They make strategic decisions, set policy and monitor the progress of the work of the organisation. The board members are responsible for choosing their successors and the procedure for this set out in the Memorandum and Articles of Association.
PROJECT LEADER
The Project Leader's principal duties involve; overall management of the project including financial management with responsibility for contract negotiations and compliance; reporting to the Board; all responsibilities relating to staff - recruitment, selection, support and supervision; liasing with external agencies and generally promoting the work of COVEY.
BEFRIENDING COORDINATORS
Befriending Coordinators carry out the work over the two sites and manage the caseload of volunteers and young people. Their principal duties involve the recruitment, selection and training of volunteer befrienders. After introducing befriending to young people and their families they are responsible for the establishing of each relationship and the ongoing supervision of the befriendings. They organise events for the volunteers and their young people. They also are involved in the development of the project and work in close partnership with other agencies.
PROJECT SUPPORT
Project Support Workers support the overall work of COVEY in the two offices. They deal with the day-to-day running of the office, maintaining accurate systems for information, the payment of volunteer expenses and financial accounts and mailings to befrienders and young people.
The above team support and sustain an average of 81 befriending relationships. The volunteers currently give support to about 85 young people.
